California Disability Discrimination Attorneys
Under the law, employers must provide "reasonable accommodation" to employees with disabilities or illnesses. All too often though, employers make halfhearted efforts to provide this accommodation before discharging employees in these situations.
If you have a disability or illness and require an accommodation to do your job, you have the right to inform your supervisor or human resources department. Be polite, direct and assertive! The law is on your side.
If you have been fired or denied a promotion because of your disability, you may be entitled to compensation for your lost salary, benefits, and emotional pain and suffering. In some cases, you may be entitled to punitive damages.
Schonbrun Seplow Harris & Hoffman, LLP represents employees who are victims of disability discrimination, age discrimination, wrongful termination and other employment law violations. We vigorously pursue these claims and are determined to prevail on behalf of our clients.

The Employer Has a Duty
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other federal and state statutes, an employer must make "reasonable accommodation" for an employee with a disability covered under the ADA. This can mean more than simply providing handicapped access or other architectural changes. The employer must sit down with the employee one on one to identify what it needs to do to enable the employee to do the essential functions of his or her job.
If your employer has failed to do this, you may be able to obtain compensation. An attorney at our firm can provide guidance in these matters.
