SDSHHH files lawsuit for former Guantanamo Detainee
SDSHHH partner Paul Hoffman filed a complaint for damages in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against numerous U.S. officials involved in the detention and torture of former Guantanamo detainee Abdul Rahim Janko. Mr. Janko is the first detainee released after filing a habeas corpus petition. He was released on October 7, 2009, based on an order by District Judge Leon in Washington, D.C. The complaint alleges that Mr. Janko was subjected to torture and other cruel treatment in detention and that there was never any justification for his detention in the first place.
