Schonbrun & Seplow LLP and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles are representing the Los Angeles Catholic Worker, the Los Angeles Community Action Network, and individual plaintiffs who have had their property unlawfully seized on Skid Row by officers of the Los Angeles Downtown Industrial District, a "business improvement district" in Skid Row. These unlawful seizures occur at random when homeless people make trips to missions and shelters downtown to obtain food and inquire about housing services. The seizure of tents, bedding, identification, and medication makes life much harder for homeless people, who often do not know where to go to have their property returned or have no means of transporting the property back to their community on Skid Row.
